If you used FileZilla in the (default) automatic mode that propably is the explanation because FileZilla causes errors in that mode due to its behaviour to handle files as text files instead of binary files.
And never unzip compressed files on the server using an FTP software, that too is a potential source for trouble.
I take it you not only adapted the new database name and its new user including the new password in the config.php file but also the new SQL server name.
You may end with re-doing the whole process with FileZilla in binary mode.
And it would be nice to see the SQL error messages, they contain some needed information. Otherwise, we would need a crystal ball - and mine isn't functioning very good lately.
