Thanks for the comprehensive response thecoalman, that's much appreciated.

I actually had those settings already active from previous occasions, and also had rules to block aggressive bots from those that identified themselves. This has always worked on previous occasions,,, but not this time.

Most of these bots come from USA, which is also my biggest source of legit traffic, so I can't block them. These bots don't identify themselves (in the 'display guests list), nor do they seem have any common identifiers that I could use to block them, so I can't use a rule to block them (I do use some rules already to block some known bots).

The cloudflare setting "I'm under attack' does stop them, but this is likely an overkill and inconvenience to legit visitors, so I'm looking for a better way.

Please help?
