I use Cyberduck as my SFTP tool to manage files and uploads, primarily to install updates.
I follow the instructions for the Full Package update. Step 7 states "Upload the contents of the phpBB3 directory from your computer to your forum's directory. You may be prompted to overwrite the remaining files. If prompted to merge or overwrite directories, choose to merge them."
With Cyberduck, the options are: .
Is "Resume (Append existing files)" the same as Merge files?
When I've selected Resume, I've noticed that some code fragments end up randomly in places they don't belong. Below are some examples. It seems that selecting Resume combines two separate files together (which is consistent with merging, I suppose) but if the two files are different, then we end up with extra code fragments. I've had to go through individual files and edit them to remove the extra code.
I want to make sure that I'm doing the updates correctly. Is Resume the proper selection or should I be overwriting?
I'm open to other software that may work better than cyberduck.
Thanks!
